This one-shot is like an amalgamation of other properties. It is equal parts 'The Signal' and 'I am Legend', but presented in comic book form.
There is nothing original what so ever about this story, and it exists completely independent of the Dollhouse television show that bears resemblance in name only.
Here in Dollhouse, there is a signal that is broadcast via telephone, and it causes the recipient to go insane and murder people. A small enclave of survivors emerges after a week hiding in a storage room, only to discover the wreckage that the world has become. They are quickly accosted by someone who has obviously been affected by the signal, and are saved by another person who is apparently still sane. After this encounter, they travel along until they run into another couple of people who are trying to get to a muster point for something that isn't revealed. At the end of the book, we are left with an ominous sequence that implies that the government is the perpetrator of this mass insanity, using radio frequencies as a sort of weaponized signal against the people.
This is a good story, and a fun (if short) read, but it's nothing like the Dollhouse universe television fans will be familiar with, and it isn't something you haven't seen before, many times over.
A good dollar-bin buy if you can find it.
