I am ecstatic to report though, that despite the silly "killer robot from the future" concept, and the pretty lame design of said robots, this was a killer first issue. I am definitely adding this to my pull now.
One area DC has always excelled in is alternate-timeline (read: Elseworlds) stories, and while this is set in the main New 52 continuity, and is a time-travel story (which are notoriously difficult to do well), this zero issue is interesting enough that I am now very excited for this coming summer event. Since I only have this issue to go on, I can only speak to what is contained here, and again, if you like DC Elseworlds tales, then this is going to be something you want to pick up for sure.
The big bonus to adding this to your list? We will have plenty of copies available FOR FREE on Saturday, May 3rd for Free Comic Book Day! See the nifty Pop Culture Company logo on the cover? Yep, that's us!
I was honestly worried before I read this, because I knew I was going to give it an early review either way, so I am particularly pleased that it happened to be so good. Since this will be one of the more popular Free Comic Book Day issues this year, it's a great thing that the story is worthwhile, and sinks its hooks in so quickly.
Make sure this is on your 'to get' list for FCBD, it's worth the price of admission, which is free, but still...um, yeah, pick it up!
