Hell Yeah is a new series from Image that came out this past Wednesday. This first issue is a nice, fat 32 pages, no ads and only $2.99, so for value, it's a winner.
The story is nothing earth-shattering yet, but it isn't bad either. Some nice nods to superhero fiction from both of the big pubs, like the band in the book is named 'The All-new, All-Differents' and there is a Watchmen like lean to the origin of the superheroes and their role in society.
The art is very nice, offering some Otomo influenced (or is that Moebius influence via Otomo?) expressions and violence, which is always a good thing.
I'll be sticking with this to see where it goes, it was an average start, but stories like these tend to have vast upward potential when handled correctly (Watchmen, Irredeemable/Incorruptible, Brat Pack, Marvels etc. etc.), so we'll see where Joe Keatinge goes with this.
